Talk by Moore Visiting Fellow Bridget English
Bio:
Dr. Bridget English is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She received her PhD in English from Maynooth University in Ireland, where she also lectured. She is a specialist in modern and contemporary Irish literature and culture, with particular research interests in theories of the novel, modernism, and the medical humanities. She is the author of Laying Out the Bones: Death and Dying in the Modern Irish Novel (Syracuse U.P. 2017). Additional publications include book chapters on John McGahern, Anne Enright, and a forthcoming chapter on Irish crime fiction. She is currently working on a book project titled, “Self-Destructive Modernisms: Suicide, Medicine, and Failure in the Modernist Novel.”
