Shaw’s 1936 comedy, The Millionairess, is fast paced and absolutely absurd.

Epifania’s life is falling apart. Yes, she’s still the richest woman in England; but her rotten husband is trying to divorce her for a lowly woman who enjoys taking care of him. On top of that her fancy man is trying to marry her. The only thing she’s really good at is making money, but money doesn’t heal a lonely heart. Will she find a man that can pass her test? Will he want to?

Aisling Smith is a PhD student in the O’Donoghue Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance, NUI Galway. This intermedia production of Shaw’s classic play is produced as part of her PhD thesis; which focuses on re-imagining the plays of George Bernard Shaw for contemporary audiences through practice as research.
