Making the machine work for you: plain text and software for an efficient writing workflow
Thursday 12 October 5pm-6:30pm
Room 1001 ‘The Bridge’, Hardiman Research Building
We use computers all the time for writing, but are we getting the best out of these machines? This EDEN session seeks to demystify the “black box” and show how we can use software to make our writing workflow as painless as possible, so that we can spend less time thinking about fonts and margins, finding lost notes, and recovering files, and more time thinking about our actual work.
Join us as we hear from Dr Aidan Kane (Economics) on LaTeX, Edward Kearns (English) on MS Word in comparison, Sarah Hoover (Drama) on Zotero and other referencing software, and Emer McHugh (Drama) on backing up your work on Dropbox, Google Drive, and other platforms.
As usual, all are welcome to continue the conversation in McGinn’s afterwards!
