5TH BABEL PUBLIC LECTURE SERIES

Dr Coralline Dupuy:

Victimisation and retaliation in Charles Perrault’s fairy tales

This talk will examine the issue of language and power shift in Charles Perrault’s fairy tales. In particular, what do Perrault’s tales tell the readers about victimization and oppression? What is the link between the use (and abuse) of language and the changes in power status in the tales?

The Babel Lectures is an initiative of the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, NUI Galway, which intends to reinforce the connection with Galway through an annual series of lectures especially designed to promote creative exchange and dialogues between academics and the community.

Entrance is free, and everybody is welcome.
