Abstract: This presentation will give a summary of developments in the U.S. regarding sexual violence among university students, followed by an example of research on one campus, discussion of current issues, a review of what is known about this problem in Europe, information about sources for research and advocacy, and discussion.
Bill Flack is a critical clinical psychologist and traumatologist, Associate Professor of Psychology at Bucknell University (Pennsylvania, USA), and a US-UK Fulbright Scholar at Ulster University. He is a specialist in research on violence against women, focusing on sexual assault among university students.
Vesna Malesevic has research and teaching interests in: the Sociology of Religion and the Sociology of Sexuality with a focus on the role of the Catholic Church and Civil Society. She has undertaken many research projects on topics in these areas, including on the attitudes and beliefs of university students regarding sex and sexuality and on LGBT issues, in contexts in Ireland and Eastern and Central Europe. She holds a PhD in Sociology (UCC); MA in Society and Politics (Central European University/University of Lancaster); and BA in Sociology (University of Zagreb).
