“…don’t forget the photos, it’s very important…” A photo exhibition about the Nazi Persecution of Sinti and Roma
The launch of a photo exhibition about the Nazi persecution of Sinti and Roma, organised by Dr Gearóid Barry and Dr Niall Ó Ciosáin. The launch will take place on Wednesday, 31 January 2024, at 5.15pm, at the O’Donoghue Centre for Drama, Theatre & Performance, University of Galway, and will feature contributions from Prof. Eve Rosenhaft (University of Liverpool) and Anne-Marie Stokes (University of Galway).
Between the mid-1930s and 1945, hundreds of thousands of Sinti and Roma (‘Gypsies’) fell victim to the genocidal policies of the Nazi regime. The exhibition presents the experiences of nine German Sinti and Roma families under National Socialism and the post-war experiences of the survivors.
The exhibition runs until 14 February 2024.
All are welcome!
