Senior Research Fellowship Award for Prof. Dan Carey

Prof. Daniel Carey of the Moore Institute and the School of Humaniites has been awarded a Senior Research Fellowship by the Irish Research Council for Humanitie & Social Sciences for his project: A Critical Edition of Richard Hakluyt’s Principal Navigations (1598-1600). This project develops for publication an edition of Richard Hakluyt’s Principal Navigations, Voyages, Traffiques, and Discoveries of the English Nation (1598-1600), the most important early modern compilation of English writings on travel, trade, and colonial settlement. No critical edition has ever been produced. The edition is under contract with Oxford University Press in 14 volumes and Daniel Carey is co-general editor (with Prof. Claire Jowitt, Nottingham Trent University).
