SUMMARY:The Galway Launch of the Letters of 1916
DESCRIPTION:The Galway launch of the Letters of 1916 \n2 – 6pm  Nursing and Midwifery PC suite of the James Hardiman Library. Here you can meet the team and learn to transcribe a letter. The Letters 1916 team will also be on hand to digitise any letters  that you bring along. We are especially interested in letters written between 1 November 1915 and 31 October 1916\, and any accompanying photographs of the correspondents. \n7-8pm we are delighted to introduce a host of speakers for the launch including: \n Dr Sarah-Anne Buckley\, Dr Conor MacNamara and Therese McIntyre\, and Professor Susan Schreibman. \nThe talks will take place in the Hardiman Research Building\, room G010. Talks include Letters as oral history\, Reading family life during 1916: precarious childhood\, parenthood and revolution and ‘They lick their chains”: 1916 and the dream of a new Ireland.’ \nFor more information please contact letters1916@gmail.com
